Klay Thompson had Jordan Poole’s back when asked about the latter’s ability to strike form after the Golden State Warriors tough 99-96 loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves at home on Sunday.

One of the questions was regarding his confidence in Poole after his late-game turnover, to which Thompson had a resounding reply. “That right there,” he pointed at the Warriors’ 2022 NBA championship logo at the back, per NBC Sports. “That’s all. He was a huge part of that. People tend to forget that. That right there.”

In focus was Poole’s bounce pass that saw the ball out of bounds with 4.4 seconds on the clock when Golden State had a chance to take the lead, or even tie the game. The guard attempted to feed the ball to Stephen Curry, but the failed attempt saw the contest go the Timberwolves’ way.

You can watch the clip below:

It’s a good sign that the team still reposed their faith in the 23-year-old despite the slip. Poole was integral to the team’s championship run last season, notching up 18.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 4.0 assists.

The ongoing season sees him average 20.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. While he’s had his share of flaws this time around, Poole’s been one of the more prolific scorers for the side and it’s unsurprising that the team’s big guns trust him.

Klay Thompson Gets Real About The Warriors’ Playoff Chances

Earlier, Klay Thompson had his honest take on the Warriors’ playoff hopes as he outlined what the team had to do to make the next round. Prior to their clash against the Dallas Mavericks, the guard had spoken about what the outfit had to do.

“Well as a competitor you relish in the moments of the most important games, and we’re coming down to the home stretch,” Thompson said, “Every game is so vital for our playoff stakes. It’s exciting times.”

The team got the message as the Warriors trounced the Mavericks and the Philadelphia 76ers, but then lost out to the Timberwolves. On the season front, Steve Kerr and his men are still on their way to the playoffs with a 39-37 record to show despite the loss.

But the far-from-elite Warriors have some work to do, and Poole, on his part, will be keen to make amends.
