The last time the New York Knicks were in the playoffs, they were sent home in five games by the Atlanta Hawks in the first round in 2021. Many expected them to bow out in the first round this time around as well, but they clearly have other ideas.

The Knicks stunned the Cleveland Cavaliers 101-97 in Game 1 on the road to snatch home-court advantage and their fans were understandably over the moon as they reacted to this result.

A fan wants Jalen Brunson to get a statue outside Madison Square Garden after another terrific display.

A fan hilariously stated they are now 15 wins away from getting their hands on the trophy after this result.

A Knicks fan is predicting they’ll sweep the Cavaliers after getting this huge road win.

A Knicks fan believes the team is finally back after years of disappointment.

Brunson was getting a lot of love, with a fan hilariously saying the guard is his Michael Jordan.

What makes this win so impressive is that this wasn’t a case of the Knicks stealing a game on the road. They were in complete control for much of the second half, and when the Cavaliers stormed back to take the lead late, they didn’t crumble. Instead, they managed to regroup and a big part of that was Jalen Brunson.

Brunson scored 21 of his 27 points in the second half and hit two big shots late in the fourth quarter to ensure the Knicks stayed ahead. He got some help from Julius Randle who had 19 points to go with 10 rebounds and Josh Hart, who hit a huge three-pointer late in the game to finish with 17 points. As for the Cavaliers, Donovan Mitchell was really the only bright spot, as he finished the night with 38 points and 8 assists, both of which were game-highs.

Will The Knicks Win This Series?

The Knicks have certainly put themselves in a great position now to win this series. Game 2 is now a must-win for the Cavaliers, and if they don’t come out on top, then you’d have to say the series is over, in all likelihood. They definitely need more production from Darius Garland if they are to win, as he scored 17 points on just 13 shots. He needs to be more aggressive, as Mitchell alone won’t be enough to get them past the Knicks.

As for the Knicks, they would feel they can play a lot better than they did. RJ Barrett was just 2-12 from the field, while Randle was not quite his usual self, as he had just returned from that ankle injury. If they play better and Brunson does what he always does, then the Cavaliers are in trouble. Mitchell had previously said he wanted to face the Knicks, and he might just be regretting that a little bit now.
