The Golden State Warriors are kicking off their title defense against their Northern California rivals, the Sacramento Kings, in a clash between two of the best offenses in the league.
It is the first time that these two franchises are facing off in the postseason and when Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was asked whether that’s a win for Northern California, he had a brutal response.
“We don’t care about Northern California,” Kerr said. “We care about the Warriors. We wanna win for our fans and for us. If that doesn’t happen, then it’s not like we are gonna be there with pom-poms saying, ‘Alright let’s go Kings!'”

It was quite a bizarre question to ask, especially to someone like Kerr, who is all about winning championships. He wouldn’t care one bit about it being special for the area, that the teams are facing off, and just wants his team to win.
Kerr did go on to say he would be happy for opposing head coach Mike Brown, who was an assistant for the Warriors last season but made it clear there was none of that geographic pride. Kerr had also spoken previously about how everyone in the organization is happy for Brown and that it was a great partnership while it lasted. The likes of Draymond Green and Stephen Curry have also been full of praise for their former coach, but he hilariously stated that they’re setting him up, adding that he isn’t falling for it.
NBA Analyst Thinks The Warriors Will Struggle On The Road Against The Kings
The biggest question mark surrounding the Warriors leading up to this postseason is whether they can actually flip the switch on the road. This is a team that has won at least one road game in their last 27 playoff series, an NBA record, but they have gone just 11-30 away from home this season.
To make matters worse, the Kings will have a great home-court advantage, as the fans will surely be up for it after such a long postseason drought. It is why Colin Ward-Henninger thinks Golden State will struggle on the road in this series. The Warriors would still back themselves to get one win in Sacramento and that might be all they need, as they were 33-8 at home during the regular season.
