Mike Brown and his Sacramento Kings are getting ready to face the defending NBA champions, Golden State Warriors, in the first round of the 2023 NBA playoffs.

Some Warriors stars have praised the Kings, especially their head coach, but Brown isn’t buying any of that.

“It’s a setup. They wanna kick my ass, trust me,” Brown said, laughing heartily while talking about comments from Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. “I’ve been around them enough. It’s a setup. Don’t fall for it, and I’m not falling for it either. Screw you guys until this is over.”

The Kings returned to the playoffs for the first time in 16 years, and things are complicated now, as their rivals are none others than the current NBA champions. Something positive about the Warriors is that they have struggled a lot on the road, which could help the Kings secure their win.

However, you should never doubt the heart of a champion, and Sacramento is well aware of that. Stephen Curry is expected to go into killer mode this postseason, and the Kings could be his first victim.

Still, the Kings shocked the world this season, and De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis will try hard to make a deep playoffs run.

Curry And Green Know The Kings Are Dangerous

On the other hand, the Dubs know they have a difficult job to complete now. Draymond Green recently praised him on a podcast, showing love to Mike Brown.

“The Kings have sucked. Since I’ve been in the NBA, they have sucked. Have not made the playoffs since I’ve been in the NBA,” Green said. “I also said … now that the Kings have Mike Brown, I expect them to change.”

Curry also talked about the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference, talking about the Dubs’ struggles as visitors and what they’re trying to do now.

“We obviously have to win one up there to win the series, so we’d like it to be Game 1,” Curry said. “We know it’s going to be tough. They’ve been a great team all year. They’ve had a great season. Mike [Brown] knows us well, and we know him well.”

Steve Kerr also touched on this duel against his former assistant coach, and the reality is that the Kings can have the Warriors’ number. However, the Dubs won 3 of their 4 regular-season matchups, which could work wonders for them in the playoffs.
