Kobe Bryant is one of the most iconic players in NBA history. Bryant dominated the NBA for two decades with his sensational play and captivated audiences with his natural charisma. Bryant has often been compared to Michael Jordan, not just in his style of play, but also in his approach to the game.

One ESPN ad for SportsCenter actually addressed the constant comparison between Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. In the ad, Kobe walks in and tries to get a snack from a vending machine. Two reporters standing nearby marveled at Kobe’s form and technique and remarked that his selections were the same as Michael Jordan’s.

The commercial was actually quite funny, as it poked fun at the constant comparison that SportsCenter and other sports news shows made between Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan, even in situations where a comparison made no sense. Bryant also starred in another funny commercial for ESPN with Jalen Rose, looking back at his 81-point game in 2006.

Kobe Bryant And Michael Jordan Were Very Similar

While the constant comparing can get tiresome, there was a reason why both Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan were constantly compared to each other. Both players were very athletic shooting guards who were able to dominate the offensive end of the court and be a solid presence on the defensive end.

During his career, Michael Jordan won 6 NBA championships and Finals MVPs and did so without ever losing in the finals. On top of that, he won 5 regular season MVPs and a Defensive Player of the Year trophy. He was a 13-time All-Star, with 11 All-NBA team selections and 9 All-Defensive team selections, and he won 10 scoring titles.
