Vince Carter spent the most seasons played in the NBA, playing in four decades on a host of teams, becoming a legend, the greatest dunker of all time, and an example of what you can do to extend your tenure in the association. VC was expected to do bigger things in the association, but sadly, things went a different way for them.
Still, he succeeded as a role player, helping things compete for important things. Although he never won a ring, he was close to doing so, and that possibility might have come with the perfect team.
Some people wanted Vince to retire with the Toronto Raptors, the team where his career began, and some people within the organization were ready to bring him back to Toronto. One of them was Kyle Lowry, who had the desire to play with Vince on the Raptors

“I’ll say this and I don’t know if anybody knew this outside of the people (involved). I tried to get Vince back with us at one point. We tried to get it done, it didn’t work out, business, whatever happened, it didn’t work out, but I was one of the biggest advocates of trying to get him back in Toronto, and Vince was all in. If you people didn’t think that Vince was all in coming back to Toronto, it’s bogus. We was working to try to get that done, just so everyone knows, we were trying to get that done, but like I said, business is business,” Lowry said on “The VC Show with Vince Carter.”
Carter confirmed the story with his gestures, admitting they were working to get him back in Toronto to run it back with the Raptors. They won their first-ever NBA championship in 2019, with Kawhi Leonard, Pascal Siakam, and Lowry leading the way for the Canadian team.
It would have been great to see VC joining that squad and going all the way to the championship, which would have been a great closure for his career. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, but it’s great to see that another All-Time Raptors great was trying to bring the first big idol of the team back to the city.
