Kyrie Irving is always on the lookout to assist those in need of financial help and he recently made a sizable donation of $50,000 to Mari Copeny’s fundraiser.
“Ya’ll Kyrie Irving just got me to my year end goal on the filter fund with his surprise donation. If 4 other celebrities would match his donation we would be at my $1M goal for my filter fund.”

Who wants to step up for this kid from Flint? https://t.co/4ycfa8fhgW
— Mari Copeny (@LittleMissFlint) November 9, 2023
Copeny created this fundraiser in 2019 following the Flint Water Crisis which began in 2014. She had risen to fame after sending a letter to then-President Barack Obama about the crisis, which prompted him to visit the area. Copeny aims to one day have that seat for herself, as she wants to run for President in 2044.
As for her fundraiser, Irving’s donation played a part in helping cross the $800,000 mark. The goal is to hit $1 million and if a couple of celebrities do chip in, they’ll reach it fairly quickly. Clean water should be available to everyone and it’s great to see the efforts that have been put in by Copeny and her group on that front.
Kyrie Irving Has Made Numerous Donations In Recent Times
Whatever you may think of Irving and some of his antics, the fact is that he has had a positive impact on the lives of many individuals. He is always trying to help people in need and has made numerous donations in recent times.
A few months earlier, Kyrie donated $40,000 to a 93-year-old who was being sued by a developer to give up her family home. Prior to that, Irving donated $65,000 to fundraisers helping the less fortunate.
At one point toward the end of last year, Kyrie had given at least $300,000 in secret GoFundMe donations in a span of a few weeks. He is to be commended for being so gracious and willing to help those in need. We rightfully criticize the 31-year-old for some of his mistakes but when he does something so good, he should be praised in an equal manner.
Kyrie Irving Had His Best Game Of The Season On Sunday Night
Irving hadn’t actually gotten off to the greatest of starts in this 2023-24 season. He was struggling with his shot and was very inefficient, but it seems he’s starting to get back to his devastating best.
In the Dallas Mavericks’ 136-124 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night, Kyrie had what was his best game of the season. In just 29 minutes, the eight-time All-Star put up 35 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 1 block, while going 13-20 from the field and 7-10 from beyond the arc.
After going just 21.4% from three in his first five games, he has now shot 57.7% in his last three. Irving revealed tips from Kobe Bryant and his father that he had been following to get out of his shooting slump, and they certainly seem to have worked. He is now averaging 23.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game this season.
The Mavericks were already proving to be a tough outing when he was struggling and they’re going to be even more difficult to beat if he keeps playing at a high level. There were many concerns about this team after their implosion last season, but they’re off to an 8-2 start and look like a serious contender this time around.
