Kyrie Irving spoke about seeing his dad celebrate the Mavericks‘ Game 4 win with Luka Doncic‘s dad on Father’s Day. He joked that their fathers were like Frozone and Mr. Incredible from the popular Disney movie ‘The Incredibles’. Irving acknowledged how much they sacrificed for them to be here, before wishing them a happy Father’s Day.

“What a wholesome moment. Frozone and Mr. Incredible. Other(wise) known as my dad and Luka’s dad, sharing an embrace just watching their sons and their teams do well. They sacrificed a lot for us to be here. So shout-out to them, especially on this Father’s Day man.”

Irving made a really funny comparison between his dad and Luka’s dad, calling them ‘Mr. Incredible’ and ‘Frozone’, two characters from the Disney classic ‘The Incredibles’. For reference, this is what those two characters look like.

It was a wonderful sight to see Kyrie Irving’s dad Drederick celebrate with Luka’s father, Sasa Doncic. Their celebration together really cemented for fans how close Doncic and Irving have gotten, becoming one of the best duos in the NBA, as they led the Mavericks to the NBA Finals.

Doncic and Irving both had excellent performances in Game 4, with Doncic putting 29 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Meanwhile, Irving contributed 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists to help seal the blowout win for the Mavericks and keep them alive in this series.

The exciting duo will have to continue producing at a similar level for the remainder of the series if they want to overturn the lead and win an NBA championship. It will be a very difficult task, especially considering the Mavs will have to steal two games in the Celtics’ home, where they’ve yet to win a game in the series so far.

Kyrie Irving Says Mavericks Have No Choice But To Make History In NBA Finals

Speaking at the end of Game 4, Kyrie Irving was asked about what the Mavericks need to do to overcome a 3-0 lead and win a championship. He noted that the team has no choice but to try and make history. He added that Game 4 was the start of the Mavericks finding their energy again.

“We have no choice now but to look forward to that – to making history. That’s what the nature of this business is. You get a small amount of games, a small sample size. But I think what you saw today at the beginning of the game was our energy being very high, everybody being very poised, very lax and to the moment, but taking it to their defenders.”

“And we saw a little ish talking too that we needed in this series just to get our guys going. Not everybody is just going to be a laid-back competitor out here. We need some of our guys that are coming in to help me and Luka to be able to bring that energy and bring the force.”

Irving will have to be better than he was in the first two games of this series if the Mavericks want to overturn this deficit. During the NBA Finals, Irving has averaged 21.0 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.0 rebounds, shooting just 43.4% from the field, and 25% from the three-point line.

Irving and the Mavericks look to steal Game 5 on the road tomorrow night, as the Mavericks play the Celtics at the T.D. Garden. Stay tuned to Fadeaway World for all the coverage and the fallout from the NBA Finals.
