Kyrie Irving Says The Nets Would Have Won The Championship In 2021 If He Didn’t Get Injured

Point guard Kyrie Irving had a tumultuous tenure with the Brooklyn Nets, and he was often criticized for his availability and off-court actions. During his time with the franchise, many believed that they would end up winning the championship, as the team also had stars James Harden and Kevin Durant on the roster.

Their best chance to win the championship was in 2021, but unfortunately, both Kyrie Irving and James Harden got injured. Kyrie Irving has recently claimed that his getting injured against the Milwaukee Bucks was “disappointing and painful”, and noted that if he didn’t get hurt, the team would end up winning the championship.

“One of the most disappointing and painful moments of my career. If I don’t get hurt that series, every single one of us on that Brooklyn team/bandwagon would be Champions. No f***ing doubt about it.”

There is no doubt that the Brooklyn Nets had a good chance of winning the 2021 championship if they were fully healthy. However, we will never truly know what would have happened if Kyrie Irving didn’t get injured, as that is entirely hypothetical.

During his time with the Brooklyn Nets, Kyrie Irving averaged 27.1 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 5.8 APG. There is no doubt that he is a talented player, and it is unfortunate that things didn’t work out for him with the team.

Kyrie Irving And Kevin Durant’s Relationship Is Deeper Than Basketball

After Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant were traded from the Brooklyn Nets, many speculated that there was a disconnect between the two. However, it seems as though that isn’t the case. Kevin Durant recently revealed that his relationship with Kyrie Irving is “deeper than basketball,” noting that he doesn’t think it “was a problem”.

“That’s something I’m going to keep internal,” he said. “I don’t want to expose our relationship. I think that’s deeper than basketball, but I wouldn’t say it was a problem. I didn’t think it was a problem.”

There is no doubt that players have lives outside of basketball, and it is clear that the things that happen on the court are far from the only thing players care about when it comes to their friendships. Though their tenure on the Nets was unsuccessful, both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant are in better situations now.
