• Kyrie Irving has kept his voice against racial inequality active this summer
• He shared a talk on his Instagram where the speaker points out you would be arrested for killing a puppy faster than for killing a Black man
• Kyrie has made various posts in solidarity this offseason
Kyrie Irving is an example of a player that is more than an athlete. While his views can often be controversial and damaging, he has kept his voice active while discussing racial equality in America. A post he shared on Instagram reflects that, as it features a talk about how you would be arrested for killing a puppy faster than for killing a Black man in America.

“If I stomped a puppy to death up here in front of you, most of you would need therapy. And, I’d be arrested probably faster than for killing a Black man. For killing a puppy. How could you do that? Do you know how much dissonance you need to remove to stick that in the brain of a child? More importantly, the child can no longer be human.”
Irving has always maintained an active voice on racial equality. He has made various statements on social media or shared posts to show his solidarity. From donations to using his platform, Irving is ensuring he remains a positive contributor to the lives of Black Americans.
Kyrie Irving Is Focused On And Off The Court
Irving has tried becoming a positive voice in the culture after his controversies around vaccination and anti-Semitism in the last few seasons. He has a long-term contract in hand once again despite his controversies, so he’ll likely be able to play with a freer mind on the Mavericks this season.
He averaged 27.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists in 20 games for the Mavs last season. Unfortunately, his on-court performances didn’t help the team win, as they missed the playoffs for the first time since Luka Doncic‘s rookie season in the league.
The Mavs have win-now expectations from their superstar backcourt next season. Whether they can live up to that remains to be seen, but the front office has given them plenty of new weapons to try and beat the loaded Western Conference.
