Should Kyrie Irving re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks, he will go back to wearing No. 11 — the number he sported with the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets.
With the Mavs rookie, Dereck Lively II wearing No. 2 for the side, Irving can now go back to 11 if he inks a deal with the team, which has become a constant topic of discussion.

Soon after he was traded to Dallas ahead of the trade deadline last season, Irving sported No. 2, the same number he used when he was with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Earlier, the Mavericks Mavericks selected Dereck Lively II from Duke University with the No. 12 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. They traded their No. 10 pick along with Davis Bertans to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for the No. 12 pick and a traded player exception. On a side note, OKC drafted Carson Wallace at No. 10.
Mark Cuban Gets Real On Kyrie Irving’s Future With The Mavericks
Dallas Mavericks team owner Mark Cuban has reiterated that re-signing Kyrie Irving has been his top priority.
“We want to sign him, and hopefully, he wants to come back. I’m not going to handicap anymore. I learned my lesson last year,” Cuban said on 97.1 The Freak, via Callie Caplan of the Dallas Morning News.
Prior to the end of the 2022-23 NBA season finished, the Mavs made re-signing Kyrie one of their top priorities, and following their disappointing exit, Cuban made it clear the team had one big move in their kitty.
Irving posted excellent and consistent numbers during his short stint with the Mavericks. He averaged 27.0 points, 6.0 assists, and 5.0 rebounds. While he was supposed to form the next formidable duo alongside Luka Doncic, the pair’s offense was on top, but their defense was a bane.
Irving has been linked to a number of teams, but only time will tell if he indeed stays in Dallas.
