Kyrie Irving is having a nice start to his tenure with the Dallas Mavericks, but everybody around the NBA is waiting to see what will be his first controversy there.

One NBA executive threw shade at the veteran point guard, claiming that he'll change his behavior as soon as he gets paid.

"Kyrie will be on his best behavior until he gets paid; after is a different story," an executive told Bleacher Report's Eric Pincus. "Unless he and Luka actively despise each other, I don't see Dallas letting him go."

Kyrie Irving has had good starts on every team he's played for since leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017. Nevertheless, over time, he stars in controversies, as happened on the Boston Celtics and more recently, the Brooklyn Nets.

Irving is still trying to find his pace on the Dallas Mavericks and is still trying to know Luka Doncic on the court. Following a painful loss against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, Irving explained that a couple of things went wrong for them during the last seconds of the game.

Dallas Mavericks Have Green Light To Retain Kyrie Irving Beyond This Season

Even though they haven't had the best start to their partnership, the Mavericks are reportedly ready to re-sign Kyrie beyond this season. According to the same report, if the Lakers decide to extend D'Angelo Russell's contract, that would shut the door for a potential Kyrie Irving's arrival

Things appear to be going well right now, but as the anonymous executive said, it could drastically change after Irving secures his bag. He's currently averaging 26.2 points, 6.5 assists, and 5.2 rebounds in 6 games with the Mavericks. Irving is shooting 50.9% from the field and 40.8% from beyond the arc, but victories are yet to come for them.

The Mavericks could have a terrific duo for the future, but if Kyrie starts acting up, they could lose both the 2016 NBA champion and their superstar, Luka Doncic, who has been on a solo mission since he arrived in the league.
