• Porter Jr. was arrested for his actions and can likely say goodbye to his NBA career
• Kysre’s sister, Kalabrya Gondrezick-Haskins has issued more threats to the Rockets’ guard
Kevin Porter Jr. has ruined what could have been a promising NBA career by heinous acts of violence against his girlfriend, WNBA star Kysre Gondrezick. Since his actions, Porter Jr. has been repeatedly threatened by Kalabrya Gondrezick-Haskins, Kysre’s sister. Haskins made aggressive comments when the news broke and reinforced her feelings by threatening Porter Jr. even more.
“F**k pu**y ass peon Porter and the rank ass rat that raised him. Standing on everything I said. Ain’t protecting sh*t about no woman beating b**ch. He tried to kill Kysre. My sister could be dead rn. Imagine that! SMFH.”

The details of what Porter Jr. did to Kysre are graphic and we would like to give readers a trigger warning before proceeding further.
Porter is facing felony assault and strangulation charges linked to the horrific incident. According to court documents, the attack involved repeated punches to Gondrezick’s face and body, resulting in an “inches-long” cut near her right eye and a fractured neck bone sustained during an episode of choking.
Why Is Kevin Porter Jr. Still Employed?
Kevin Porter Jr. hasn’t been waived by the Houston Rockets despite being on a mostly non-guaranteed deal because of his troubling history with domestic violence before he joined the team. The Rockets knew KPJ was capable of actions like that again and the Rockets’ guard has lived up to the expectation by committing these horrific acts.
The Houston Rockets are in the process of trying to trade Porter Jr. to some other team that will be willing to accept the salary cap implications of acquiring and waiving Porter Jr. this season. Houston is willing to offer multiple draft assets to get the deal done, but most NBA teams will be wary of this situation given the negative perception they could get by trading for a known domestic abuser because they’re getting draft assets.
The Rockets’ hands are tied until the NBA completes its investigation into the matter, which could further complicate what the Rockets want to do with Porter Jr. Given Miles Bridges is coming back after a year-long absence due to a domestic violence incident, the league has no precedent to severely punish KPJ, with teams around the NBA expected to blacklist the player for his actions instead of an official NBA ban.
Would Any Team Touch Porter Jr. In Trade Talks?
Even with the bounty that the Rockets are prepared to offer to offload Porter Jr., it doesn’t seem like many teams are biting. The only way this trade happens is if there’s a team that can match the Porter Jr. contract without losing a rotational player. Given the value of draft assets, especially first-round picks, some front office could be convinced into taking a short-term salary hit for the long-term success of draft assets.
The Knicks could be in this mix. They have enough draft assets sitting around, but with the possibility for former MVPs Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid moving away from the team that drafted them, the Knicks would love to have even more assets to throw at the Bucks or 76ers to ensure no one else can acquire them. The Knicks have Evan Forunier’s contract sitting on the roster, with the Rockets possibly having use for the veteran guard.
Outside of that, it seems many teams could avoid touching this situation with a 10-foot pole. Porter Jr. doesn’t belong in the NBA after an action like this. The league has a few players and coaches with prior domestic violence convictions, but it doesn’t look like KPJ will be able to escape the situation, which should set a new standard on how the NBA deals with domestic violence.
