The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off a win in overtime against the resilient New York Knicks in MSG as LeBron James, and Anthony Davis returned to the lineup after a one-game hiatus. LeBron and AD combined for 55 points and 19 rebounds to pull this win off.

The Lakers walked out of the game 129-123 winners and have moved back to being just 4 games under .500. Given no team in the West can stay far above .500 for too long, a 10-day stretch of good wins for the Lakers could change their season outlook. Referee decisions have held them back, but today they won the game based on their hustle and hard work. Fans are taking away a lot of optimism from this game.

The Lakers are trying to outpace the Portland Trail Blazers and Oklahoma City Thunder right now to just become the 11 seed, with the 10th-seed Jazz waiting ahead of them. Some major moves before the trade deadline could make the Lakers a playoff favorite again.

Do The Lakers Need To Make A Move In The Next 7 Days?

As soon as the clock strikes midnight, we will be just a week away from the trade deadline being shut. The Lakers are the only team so far to have improved their team in the trade market by acquiring Rui Hachimura, and they are most people’s pick to be among the most active teams in the market.

This game is proof that the Lakers need some more usable pieces around their star duo. Russell Westbrook had an average game, showing that the Lakers might be right to be concerned about his playoff viability. A big trade may see them part with Russ, but more realistic trades also exist where the Lakers can give up just a second-round pick to get a wing-like Josh Richardson or Terrence Ross.

Adding shooting should be their priority, and not making a move will be a massive problem as the Lakers look to become a playoff-caliber team.
