The Los Angeles Lakers couldn’t hold off California rivals Sacramento Kings at home, as the best team in California this season picked up another win to solidify their bid to make their first playoffs in 17 years. The Lakers, on the other hand, have fallen closer to missing out on the playoffs for a second consecutive year.
Despite a 30-point night from LeBron James and the game being tightly contested throughout, the Lakers didn’t have enough firepower to outduel the Kings. James scored 32, but a weak night from productive players like Thomas Bryant and Dennis Schroder meant the Lakers lost the game 116-111, with fans not happy about it

Lakers always struggling in crunch time is a coach issue at this point

De’Aaron Fox, Harrison Barnes, Keegan Murray, and Kevin Huerter all had solid scoring nights to ensure the Kings never got outgunned by the Lakers.
Is There Hope For The Lakers This Season?
The Los Angeles Lakers had to win this game considering the Kings were playing without Domantas Sabonis. With the Oklahoma City Thunder picking up another win and entering the playoff mix in the West, the Lakers are seemingly falling behind. There really isn’t a magical streak of form against good teams that the Lakers can find. It is a roster issue and the front office needs to accept it.
Jeanie Buss needs to stop holding out for the future and recognize the elite play of LeBron James at the moment and give him the tools to compete. If they’re going to keep penny-pinching with future assets, they’re going to alienate their fans and LeBron before things possibly get even worse.
Even if they don’t want to make a big move, there are options in Cam Reddish, Terrence Ross, and more to give the Lakers some sort of help, even if it isn’t enough to make them contenders.
