John Wall has been dropping a lot of gems this week. Wall was supposed to be having a fairytale return to a contending team this season when he signed with the Los Angeles Clippers. However, the Clippers haven’t looked impressive off-late this season, sparking rumors of a change coming to the team.

Wall might get traded once again after the Clippers have allegedly floated him in conversations to acquire another big man. However, Wall is a tried and tested veteran in the NBA who has been forced to deal with a lot of adversity.

He tried telling the young players in Houston that he was a veteran to that the NBA is far crueler than they know, as they’re getting away with doing things on a tanking Houston Rockets roster that they won’t be able to do anywhere else in the league.

“I always talk to Jalen Green, Kevin Porter, KJ Martin, like, ‘don’t get adjusted to this losing sh*t. This not how the league is.’ At the same time, I had to tell them, ‘the sh*t y’all getting away with over here, you go to any other team, you’d be out the f***ing league. You wouldn’t play.’ I am trying to explain that to them because they think it’s sweet. If you ever get traded somewhere else, you’re gonna be like, ‘this motherf****r was right.'”

Jalen Green is a high-potential lottery pick, so the expectation is that he cleans his game up as the years go by. The Rockets haven’t improved in 3 seasons, so the habits that have been formed are extremely worrying. Hopefully, this is the final season of the Rockets playing at this level because these young players might permanently hurt their stock playing the way they are.

Are The Rockets Developing Their Players Well?

Stephen Silas seems like a likable head coach, but he is yet to bring results on the court. Wall has been extremely critical of the Rockets recently, and it’s shown a lot of bad tendencies in the franchise, especially their plan of tanking by design. Eric Gordon’s recent frustrations as a veteran on the roster also echo the disconnect between veterans and the Rockets’ youth-heavy setup.

If you get enough cracks at the lottery, you’re bound to get extremely talented players. Developing them into winners is a different matter, and the Rockets need to start doing that soon before they get stuck in a tanking cycle.
