“Lakers Might Have Three All-Stars This Year,” Says Kendrick Perkins

2 Min Read

As the reigning, defending NBA Champions, all eyes are on the Los Angeles Lakers this season.

No doubt, the combo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis will be enough to keep them competitive, but if they are going to stay atop the Western Conference, they are going to need another player to step up and be that third guy for them.

So far this season, that player has been Dennis Schroder. Through four games, he has averaged 16.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists on 48% shooting. On ESPN, Kendrick Perkins went so far as to say he’ll be the team’s third All-Star this season.

Fans were less than convinced at Perk’s prediction, especially seeing as how many didn’t even know who he was.

While naming him an All-Star might be a stretch at this point, the impact Schroder has made for the Lakers so far this season can not be understated. He has been a consistent scorer and exceptional playmaker who has taken some pressure off of LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the offensive end.

But will it sustainable? And will it be enough to get them another title?

Winning, after all, is all the Purple and Gold care about these days, and Schroder’s performance only really matters if it’s in the pursuit of their 18th Championship.

Their chances to get it look pretty good so far, but there is still so much that needs to be played out…
