LeBron James and Steph Curry have dominated the NBA for a large part of the 2010s, each winning 3 titles during the decade and meeting each other in the Finals for 4 consecutive seasons. The two have been mentioned in the same conversation time and again, but while Curry’s attributed with changing the game and being the greatest shooter of all time, LeBron James is in the GOAT conversation with Michael Jordan.

A lot of Curry fans have often felt like the superstar is disrespected and now, with the opportunity for him to get his 4th ring and match LeBron, there have been many that are comparing Curry’s achievements to LBJ’s. And while there are several reasons why that falls short, a Lakers reporter on Twitter had made it amply clear that there will always be a difference between the two:

“The “LeBron fans are worried about Curry getting another championship” thing makes no sense to me. Is anyone seriously arguing that Curry>LeBron? Even if they are tied for championships? Curry is GREAT but LeBron just may be the GOAT. There is no reason for this to be a thing.”

LeBron has 4 Finals MVPs to his name compared to Curry’s 0, and the impact he has had overall on his teams has arguably been greater than Steph’s considering that LeBron is the much better all-around player. Curry has earned his flowers and he will always go down as one of the greatest to ever do it in the NBA, but the comparison to James may be premature even if they end up with the same number of titles at the end of this season, or even if Curry wins more in the future as some have predicted

The duo themselves get along extremely well, having had a chance to play together during the All-Star Game, and the mutual respect is visible every time they speak about one another. While fans will always want to prop their favorite player over the other superstars in the league, these kinds of comparisons will always likely have some sort of holes in the arguments that either side makes.
