LeBron James Is Averaging 12 PPG More Than Kobe Bryant And 15 PPG More Than Kareem Abdul Jabbar In Their 19th NBA Season

2 Min Read

LeBron James continues to shock the world, as he is still playing at an elite level despite being so late into his career. LeBron James is 37 years old right now, the age at which most players in the NBA either decline significantly or even retire. But James hasn’t declined at all, playing incredible basketball and still remaining in the conversation for one of the best players in the world.

James has made a lot of history this season, most recently by surpassing Karl Malone to become second all-time on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. But this statistic shows how dominant James has been, considering his age. LeBron James is currently having the highest-scoring season for a player in their 19th season, more than Kobe Bryant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and his teammate Carmelo Anthony had in their 19th season.

Points Per Game in 19th Season:

LeBron James: 30 PPG

Kobe Bryant: 17.6 PPG

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: 14.6 PPG

Carmelo Anthony: 13.5 PPG

LeBron is averaging 30 points per game. In comparison, Kobe Bryant averaged 17.6 points per game in his final season, and Kareem averaged 14.6. Carmelo Anthony, who like LeBron, is playing in his 19th season this year, is averaging 13.5 points per game. The numbers from Kobe, Kareem, and Melo are impressive considering their age, but James’ numbers are truly unbelievable, given that he is also the same age as them.

Going forward, LeBron will be hoping to improve on his scoring numbers, and perhaps win what would be only the second scoring title of his career. Despite James being one of the most consistent scorers in the league, he has always been a pass-first player. That has held him back when it comes to chasing scoring titles. But James has shown in the past that he can lead the league in scoring and wants to do so now.
