LeBron James has been one of the best players in the history of the NBA during the course of his career. James has been playing in the league for almost 20 years now and has consistently played at a high level, being a great scorer and passer. And now, LeBron James is just a few games away from making history in the NBA.

LeBron James is currently 3rd on the NBA’s all-time scorers list, sitting at 36,664 points. He is just 209 points away from surpassing Utah Jazz legend Karl Malone to take 2nd place on the NBA’s all-time scorers list, bringing him one step closer to his ultimate goal; surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.

LeBron surpassed the 36,000 point mark earlier this season, becoming the youngest player to reach that mark in NBA history. Given James’ longevity, it is not surprising to see him close to surpassing Karl Malone. Many fans and analysts believe James is aiming to surpass Kareem to take the top spot on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. And the way he has been playing the last few years, you wouldn’t put it past him.

James’ incredible 56-point performance against the Golden State Warriors made him only the second player in NBA history to score 50 points in a game across 3 different decades, with Michael Jordan being the first. This season has been full of historic milestones for the 4-time NBA champion.

Going forward, LeBron James could surpass Karl Malone in the next few games, as he only needs 10 games where he scores 20+ points to reach the mark. And the way LeBron James has been playing this season, that seems to be a foregone conclusion. But James will be more concerned about the way his team is playing than his own numbers.
