- LeBron James had a hilarious response to being the oldest player in the league
- James turns 39 years old in December
- The superstar is still playing at an All-NBA level
Superstar LeBron James may be entering the twilight of his career, but there is no doubt that he is still a superstar-caliber player in the NBA. Most people would agree that he is the face of the Los Angeles Lakers right now, even though he is 38 years old right now and will turn 39 in December.
As of right now, LeBron James is the oldest player in the league, and it is certainly crazy that he is still a top-tier player. Recently, James was told of his being the eldest NBA player, to which the superstar had a hilarious reaction.

Later in the video, LeBron James is seen emphatically dunking the ball, and it is clear that he is still extremely athletic for a 38-year-old player. His durability and longevity have been absolutely insane, and James seems primed to have another elite season with the Lakers.
LeBron James had another productive season with the Lakers last season, putting up 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game. It will be interesting to see how James will perform next season, but it seems unlikely that he will decline significantly in terms of production.
LeBron James Is Ready To Pass The Torch To Anthony Davis
There is no doubt that many expect Anthony Davis to eventually take over from LeBron James as the No. 1 option for the Lakers. This line of thinking makes sense, given that James is 38, while Davis is still in his prime at 30. In fact, the elder superstar seemingly encouraged Davis to take over. Recently, James declared that Davis is the face of the Lakers, noting that he is already a franchise legend.
“He is the face [of the franchise],” James told ESPN during the Lakers’ annual media day Monday. “You look at all these [retired] numbers that surround this facility, all the greats that have come here and AD is one of them.”
Hopefully, we see Davis dominate this season given James’ encouragement. There is no doubt that Davis has the talent to win the MVP award, but he has been hampered by inconsistency and injuries. He needs to overcome those issues if he is to become a truly dominant superstar, and we’ll see how this year goes for the big man.
The Los Angeles Lakers Should Be A Contending Team This Season
There is no doubt that many people expect the Los Angeles Lakers to be a contending team this season. They retained key players such as Austin Reaves, while also making talented new additions such as Gabe Vincent and Christian Wood. It is clear that they have the star power and the depth to be successful.
Still, the Western Conference is more powerful than ever. The Denver Nuggets are still the reigning champions, the Phoenix Suns made a blockbuster trade for Bradley Beal, and there are talented young teams such as the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Memphis Grizzlies.
With that being said, the Los Angeles Lakers have a fair chance of getting out of the Western Conference. They have to gel and develop chemistry with one another, and we’ll see how they do this season.
