It’s not easy being Los Angeles Lakers fans at the moment, and it’s definitely not a heartwarming sight to see LeBron James dishing out stellar performances only for the team to endure close losses.
James had 32 points in the Lakers’ 116-111 loss to the Sacramento Kings. It was his 17th 30+ point performance this season and was coupled with 8 boards and 9 assists.
Speaking to the media after the defeat, the 38-year-old was asked about his load management and combating fatigue this season. Per Spectrum SportsNet:
"No matter what is going on with me personally with bumps, bruises and fatigue, my job is to go out there and still perform at a high level and put ourselves in a position to win a ball game." @KingJames on how he's handled the workload. pic.twitter.com/J8Uo7rBpue

“No matter what is going on with me personally with bumps, bruises, and fatigue, my job is to go out there and still perform at a high level and put ourselves in a position to win a ball game.”
Russell Westbrook was the second-highest scorer 19 points, while Kendrick Nunn recorded 14 points. But it wasn’t enough to beat the Domantas Sabonis-less Kings.
LeBron James Urges His Teammates To Play Mistake-Free Basketball
Placed 13th in the Western Conference with a 20-25 record, the Lakers would be out of the playoffs if it were today. And with the season well past the midway mark, the Lakers will look to make a final push with 37 games remaining in the regular season.
For James, it was about the depleted side playing what he called “mistake-free” basketball. The Lakers are without the services of Anthony Davis, Austin Reaves, and Lonnie Walker IV. And with the trio set to miss a few more games as they recover from their injuries, LA will have their work cut out.
The veteran said he was pleased with the way the team was playing, but stressed that they could be better. Per Spectrum SportsNet:
“We’re definitely the ball club that has zero room for error. We had only six turnovers, last game it was more. That is amazing. I thought we played pretty good basketball, but we don’t have much room for error. We are limited by bodies. So until some of our big guys or some of our key guys get back … we got to continue to play how we’ve played the last couple of games. Play mistake-free basketball.”
The Lakers will play the Memphis Grizzlies next, followed by a clash against the Portland Trail Blazers.
