With just 422 points before passing Kareem on the All-Time scoring list, Lakers star LeBron James is on the verge of an impressive milestone.

If he keeps scoring at this pace, LeBron will become the league’s all-time leading scorer pretty soon, and it’s an achievement that will likely solidify his claim as the greatest player ever.

But now that LeBron is about to pass the record, does he think anyone has a chance to beat it? In a recent sit-down with NBA Today, the King gave his thoughts on the subject and named a list of players who could one day claim the top-scoring spot.

KD comes up, he’s the first name that comes to mind for sure. His name is not Easy Money and Slim Reaper for no reason. He does it so effortlessly. His ability to shoot the three-ball, shoot the mid-range, get to the paint, and also shoot 85, 95% from the free throw line. Those are key ingredients but the most important is about being available on the floor. We have a lot of great scorers in the league, KD being one of them, Kyrie, Luka, he’s young. Embiid. Giannis. Those guys, they put numbers on the board. But you have to have a little luck as well.”

LeBron James knows more than most about what it takes to be a great scorer, so his calling out these guys by name shows the level of respect he has for their game.

Really, though, passing LeBron on the All-Time scoring list is not going to be easy, especially since LeBron will likely outscore Kareem by hundreds or even thousands of points.

But out of all the names on LeBron’s list, Kevin Durant is the name to keep an eye on. While he’s currently dealing with an injury, Durant is up to 14th on the All-Time scoring list and could move to the top 10 by the end of the season.

Is Kevin Durant The Greatest Scorer In NBA History?

Durant has had some injury troubles, but it seems nothing can prevent him from putting the ball in the hoop. Despite an Achilles tear, and two knee injuries over the past two seasons, Durant continues to be the NBA’s most versatile bucket-getter, and many are calling him the greatest scorer.

As far as his chance for the All-Time scoring record, if he’s able to maintain this production for several more years, then finishing at the top may be within reach.

Of course, Durant himself isn’t thinking about this anyway. Right now, he’s only worried about healing up and getting back on the court to help his team win. Everything else, including personal milestones, is secondary.
