Contrary to what many fans believed, LeBron James didn’t go for 40 on Saturday night and instead focused on helping his team get an important win against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Everybody had questions about his mindset coming into this game, especially with Dillon Brooks’ antics on and off the court. LeBron shut down the notion that he needed to make a statement since he’s done that a lot before.

“I’ve been doing this too long. I’ve made enough statements,” James said when asked if he was trying to prove something with his play. “No. We had an opportunity to come home and play well on our home floor, and we did that. No statement was made. We just wanted to play well and got a win. And we want to try to do that in Game 4, as well. But I don’t need to make statements.”

LeBron made this very clear while laughing, leaving no doubt that he’s trying to do his thing without taking anything personally or making the series about him. Still, as the best player on the floor, he was the subject of Brooks’ antics, and the Grizzlies player was even ejected after hitting the King in the groin

James finished the game with 25 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds to lead his team to a 111-101 win over the Grizzlies.

LeBron James Gets Real On A Potential Dillon Brooks’ Suspension

Now, people are speculating about what will happen with Brooks. While Ja Morant thinks the league will suspend Brooks given the way they’ve treated him before, LeBron had a diplomatic response, saying the Lakers will be ready to face the Grizzlies with or without Brooks

Game 4 of this series is scheduled for Monday, with the Grizz ready to, ironically, make a statement against LeBron James and co. The Lakers will try to get the advantage of playing at home again and secure the commanding 3-1 lead over their young rivals.
