LeBron James has further cemented his case to be considered the GOAT after crossing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record this season. But after turning around a poor season, he and the Lakers were unable to get the NBA championship.

Speaking after losing Game 4 against the Denver Nuggets, LeBron James addressed how he’s feeling, and it wasn’t too positive.

“I don’t know. I wouldn’t say it was a successful year because I don’t play for anything besides winning championships at this point in my career. And I don’t get a kick out of making a Conference appearance. I’ve done it a lot.

“And it’s not fun to me to not be able to be a part of getting to the Finals. But we’ll see what happens moving forward, but I don’t know. I got a lot to think about, to be honest. Just for me, moving forward with the game of basketball, a lot to think about.”

LeBron James is 38 years old and he is chasing the title of GOAT. He already has four NBA championships to his name, but to get on the same level as Michael Jordan, he would need to get six. Another wasted opportunity on that front is bound to be frustrating for the King.

What’s more, LeBron hasn’t looked like his dominant self in these playoffs. He had a 40-point game in Game 4, but otherwise, his numbers have been just good, not great. He scored 30 or more points just twice in his 16 playoff games and has averaged 24.5 points, which is the second-lowest tally of his career.

LeBron James Is Considering Retirement

It’s hard to imagine an NBA without LeBron James, but he seemed affected by this latest loss. Speaking in the aftermath of the game, James suggested that he will have to think about his future in the league, hinting at the fact that he might retire

This is far from good news for the Los Angeles Lakers, and his comments about not being too happy about just making the Conference Finals are even more worrisome. LeBron James has dominated the league for 20 years now, and unless the team can ensure he has a championship-caliber roster around him next season, he might just call it quits.
