Carmelo Anthony announced his retirement on Monday, calling it quits after a 19-year Hall Of Fame NBA career. He became one of the greatest scorers the NBA has ever seen and played for some legendary franchises.

He was drafted by the Denver Nuggets and played for teams like the Houston Rockets and the Los Angeles Lakers. But he is probably best remembered for his time with the New York Knicks. And a funny video of him interacting with Knicks fans back in the day has gone viral.

At a wax museum where there are plenty of elaborate statues of celebrities, Anthony pretended to be a statue of himself. As Knicks fans walked by, he would catch them off guard by moving and talking, resulting in a hilarious video.

Carmelo Anthony suffered from a lot of negative talk about him during his career. As a scorer, he was as good as anyone ever. But his effort, desire, and defense were often questioned by fans and media alike. Even his temperament was spoken about, with Melo getting called a diva.

However, throughout his career, Anthony was an entertainer, as this video shows. He may have had his moments where he didn’t enjoy the way things were going professionally and tried to change them, but Melo will always be adored for his stylish game and his lovely personality.

Carmelo Anthony Was Shown Love By Everyone From LeBron James To NBA Fans

Carmelo Anthony never won a championship, but his list of accolades is more impressive than most players in NBA history. A 10-time All-Star, Melo was the reason a lot of young kids in the 2000s started following basketball and the NBA. And after he announced his retirement, fans were quick to show him love. They weren’t the only ones, even LeBron James had a heartfelt message for Melo

“Congratulations my brother. Where do I start? Is it us back in High School, sitting outside that hotel all the way to the battles we had together? I could sit here and talk for hours and hours and hours and I’m just so proud of you man and so blessed and humbled to be a part of your journey. You’re one of the greatest players I’ve ever seen… You’ve always been one of the greatest I’ve seen play the game, man, and I just wanna say congratulations.”

Carmelo Anthony’s time with New York also earned him some fans. He led the Knicks to their first series win since 2000 in 2013. He was a perennial All-Star and a cultural icon with them. Melo will be remembered fondly by the whole league, but he will always have a special place in Knicks fans’ hearts.
