In a 19-year career, Carmelo Anthony was drafted by the Denver Nuggets and played for storied franchises like the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers. After his retirement was announced though, fans of every team reacted emotionally on social media. 

For a lot of NBA fans that grew up in the 2000s, Carmelo Anthony is a legend that was central to them falling in love with the game. And as that generation ages, he is the latest great from that era to call it a career. One fan pointed out how tough that is for a lot of people.

His career will be talked about a lot in the wake of this announcement, but suffice it to say that Carmelo Anthony is one of the greatest NBA players of all time.
