LeBron James did not hide his feelings about finishing second in this year’s MVP voting. In reference to him losing the award to Giannis (and only getting 16 first-place votes in total), James admitted it “pissed him off.”
“Pissed me off. That’s my true answer,” James said following the Western Conference Finals opener. “It pissed me off, because out of 101 votes, I got 16 first-place votes. That’s what pissed me off more than anything. You know, not saying that the winner wasn’t deserving of the MVP. But that pissed me off. And I finished second a lot in my career, either from a championship, and now four times as an MVP.”
He went on a rant about the whole voting system, and how he may have potentially been robbed of the DPOY award back in 2013. We all thought that was the end of it, and that the focus would shift back on the task at hand.
But, in a strangely vague message on Twitter, James talked about betrayal, leading many to believe it was his way of letting off some more steam about his supposed MVP snub.

Nobody really knows who the Tweet is referring to, but it’s clear that James feels betrayed by someone (or some people) he used to trust. It could be those who voted against him in the MVP race, or it could be something far, far more serious.
Either way, the dude seems ticked off and hurt, so he’ll likely play with a chip on his shoulder for the rest of these playoffs. Let’s hope nobody is foolish enough to stand in his way.
