- LeBron James attempted to recruit Steve Nash in 2011
- James made the attempt on his Twitter account
- The King lost the second NBA Finals of his career in 2011
When LeBron James joined the Miami Heat in 2010 to form a Big 3 with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, he became a villain for the entire league.
Despite having a superteam, the Heat couldn’t defeat the Dallas Mavericks in the 2011 NBA Finals. Following a 4-2 defeat in the Finals, LeBron James floated the idea of Steve Nash joining the Miami Heat on Twitter.
“Maybe Steve Nash in a Heat uni! We can help each other get our 1st ring,” Jams tweeted in 2011.

LeBron James averaged just 17.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game in the 2011 NBA Finals. James also had an abysmal Game 4 of the series, where he scored just 8 points.
Keeping these things in mind, it’s no surprise that James wanted Steve Nash to join the Miami Heat. However, Nash didn’t entertain the idea, and he stayed with the Phoenix Suns for the 2011-12 NBA season.
Nash did leave the Suns ahead of the 2012-13 season. He signed with the Los Angeles Lakers in hopes of winning a ring. Unfortunately, Nash would play just 65 games over two seasons as a Laker. He averaged 11.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game. The legendary point guard retired in 2014 as a 39-year-old.
LeBron James Won Two NBA Championships With The Miami Heat
LeBron James didn’t get Steve Nash as his teammate, but honestly, he didn’t need his help to win the first two NBA Championships of his career. The King led the Miami Heat to back-to-back NBA titles in 2012 and 2013.
According to his former teammate Iman Shumpert, LeBron James was the scariest version of himself after losing the 2011 NBA Finals.
During the 2011-12 season, LeBron James averaged 27.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 6.2 assists while shooting 53.1% from the field and 36.2% from the 3PT range. James won the third MVP of his career. As we mentioned earlier, he led the Heat to the NBA Championship as well.
James averaged 30.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game during the 2012 playoffs. He was clearly on a mission.
