Victor Wembanyama Has The Highest Rookie 2K Rating Ever, Even Better Than LeBron James And Kevin Durant

Victor Wembanyama becomes the highest-rated rookie in NBA 2K history, surpassing Zion Williamson, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant.

We are less than a month away from the release of NBA 2K24. It’s slated to be released worldwide on Sept. 08, 2023. The highly anticipated No. 1 overall pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, Victor Wembanyama, received an 84 rating as a rookie.

Wembanyama became the highest-rated rookie in the history of the video game. Victor Wembanyama’s rating is higher than the likes of LeBron James and Kevin Durant during their rookie seasons.

“Ah, that’s nice, that’s nice,” Wembanyama said of his rating.

Upon being asked if he wants to become a 90-rated player in the game by the end of the 2023-24 season, he said: “Yeah, for sure. No doubt. Of course.”

For comparison, LeBron James was given a 78 rating during his rookie season in NBA 2K4. On the other hand, Kevin Durant received an 80 rating as a rookie in NBA 2K8.

As per NBA 2K, Victor Wembanyama is already a better player as a rookie than LeBron James and Kevin Durant, at least in their rookie seasons.

Here’s a look at the ratings of every first-overall pick in NBA 2K history ranked:

Victor Wembantyama (NBA 2K 2K24) – 84 overall rating

Zion Williamson (NBA 2K20), John Wall (NBA 2K11), Kyrie Irving (NBA 2K12), Anthony Edwards (NBA 2K21) – 81 overall rating

Greg Oden (NBA 2K8), Derrick Rose (NBA 2K9), Markelle Fultz (NBA 2K18), Cade Cunningham (NBA 2K22) – 80 overall rating

Andrew Bogut (NBA 2K6), Anthony Davis (NBA 2K13), Ben Simmons (NBA 2K17), Deandre Ayton (NBA 2K19) – 79 overall rating

LeBron James (NBA 2K4), Karl-Anthony Towns (NBA 2K16), Paolo Banchero (NBA 2K23) – 78 overall rating

Andrew Wiggins (NBA 2K15) – 77 overall rating

Blake Griffin (NBA 2K10), Anthony Bennett (NBA 2K14) – 76 overall rating

Dwight Howard (NBA 2K5) – 74 overall rating

Andrea Bargnani (NBA 2K7) – 73 overall rating

For NBA 2K24, James and Durant are both rated 96. The two superstars are still two of the best players in the video game despite being in their twilight years. It will be exciting to see if Wembanyama can enter the list of the highest-rated players in NBA 2K24 by the end of the 2023-24 season.


Victor Wembanyama’s NBA Debut Team Revealed

The 19-year-old French phenom is expected to become the face of the league one day. It’s obvious that every aspect of his NBA career is already under the microscope.

Speaking of which, Victor Wembanyama is all set to make his NBA debut against Luka Doncia and Kyrie Irving’s Dallas Mavericks. As of now, the tentative debut date is Oct. 25, 2023.

The 7’5″ towering forward played two games in the NBA Summer League averaging 18.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 4.0 blocks per game. Can Wembanyama average better numbers during his rookie season in the NBA? We will find out soon.
