  • Taylor Swift’s banner was one of the attractions at the Crypto.com Arena
  • The Clippers and their fans were one of the teams that didn’t like the pop icon’s banner in the arena
  • The running joke though was that she had more concert appearances than Kawhi Leonard and Paul George’s games together in 2023

Taylor Swift’s banner in the Crypto.com Arena was not a pleasing sight to the Los Angeles Clippers.

In a recent report by The Messenger Sports’ Arash Markazi, the Clippers were one of the teams that didn’t like the pop star’s banner in the arena.

“The pushback to the banner from fans of the Lakers, Clippers and Kings was almost immediate. People thought the banner, which was nearly the size of three Lakers championship banners, was far too big.”

Markazi further added:

“Clippers fans quickly grew tired of jokes that Swift had more championship banners (1) than the Clippers (0). The Clippers initially covered up the banner along with the entire west rafters with giant portraits of their players. Before the start of the 2019-2020 season, the Kings followed suit.”

At the time of writing, it was reported that Swift’s banner will still be a notable miss when the Kings, Lakers, and the Clippers start their 2023-24 season. That though will change when the Clippers will move to the Intuit Dome near SoFi Stadium and the Crypto.com Arena finishing a two-year renovation.

The Running Joke Surrounding Taylor Swift And Clippers Stars Kawhi Leonard And Paul George

One of the biggest ribbings doing the rounds was when fans trolled Clippers superstars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George about their time together on the floor, comparing it to Swift’s concerts this year which well surpasses the number of games played by the two.

Taylor Swift Concerts in 2023 — 78

Kawhi & PG Games Together in 2023 — 38

It’s pretty unfair to call out the two superstars, but one can’t ignore the extensive injuries that the two have faced since their time together on the floor.

This season, George injured himself in the final stretch of the regular season and was ruled out of the playoffs, while Leonard found himself on the IRL during the team’s first-round postseason skirmish against the Phoenix Suns.

Can Kawhi Leonard And Paul George Win A Championship For The LA Clippers?

When looked at from an individual perspective, there’s never a doubt that both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are superstars who can make a massive difference when they are healthy. And the numbers back that too.

This past season, Leonard averaged 23.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists from 52 regular season games. Geoge recorded 23.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 6.5 assists from 56 games. And the fact that they have impressive numbers shows the damage that the duo can cause when they are healthy.

This thought was echoed by head coach Tyronn Lue, who believes that the Clippers are confident of making a deeper run with both players inching towards being fully healthy.

“We expect him to be ready by training camp,” Lue said about Leonard. “He will be 100 percent by the time training camp hits and we just gotta be ready for when training camp hits with our medical staff, we just make sure we are doing the right things as far as practices and games and making sure the minutes are right. The same thing with PG. When those two guys play, we’re an amazing team.”

The Clippers also have Russell Westbrook, who showed glimpses of his vintage MVP form after he signed with the side following his trade from the Los Angeles Lakers. With James Harden expected to link up with the team at some stage, the Clippers look like bonafide contenders.

Now, they have a chance to shut down trolls who compare Swift’s record to theirs, the question is, can they remain healthy enough?
