Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis were teammates in Dallas from 2019 to 2022, with the four-year partnership showing promise but fizzling out. Despite the failed pairing, Doncic made it clear that he has no animosity with the Latvian center, questioning the credibility of former Maverick Chandler Parsons after he said Luka and Porzingis had beef.
“What comments? That’s why I don’t watch a lot of that because people don’t know. I have met Chandler Parsons twice in my life, so I don’t know how he’d know that. But me and KP have a good relationship. I don’t know why people say otherwise.”

Parsons spoke on FanDuel TV’s ‘Run It Back’ a day earlier where he claimed that Doncic and Porzingis didn’t like playing with each other.
“They do not like Porzingis in Dallas. Luka did not like playing with him, there is an actual beef there where it’s going to be every time he’s touching the ball, he’s getting booed.”

Doncic and Porzingis had a tricky time as teammates, with both ascending talents under the age of 25 when they were teamed up. As Doncic soared into becoming an All-NBA talent in their first full season together, Porzingis struggled to adjust to being the second option and playing within the system Luka’s talent commanded.
He was traded in February 2022 to the Washington Wizards for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans, with the Mavs instantly going to the Western Conference Finals that season. Now, Doncic and Porzingis will go head-to-head with the winner having the opportunity to win their first NBA Championship.
Kristaps Porzingis Took Accountability For His Time With The Mavericks Not Working Out
Kristaps Porzingis has previously accepted the blame for his situation with the Mavericks not working out due to a variety of factors, including his own mindset and ability along with injuries.
“I was having fun. I was doing my thing, I was having fun. It just wasn’t the perfect situation… Yeah, I don’t know. We never played up to that level. And a lot of it’s on me. I could have played better… I got hurt in the bubble and after that, there were a lot of things, but I look at what I could have done better. I can criticize myself looking back. I wasn’t moving as well defensively, my rhythm wasn’t good at parts of the season. I wasn’t playing at the level I was playing at now. Overall, I think sooner or later, [the trade from Dallas] was going to be the result.”
Porzingis made it clear that he has no problem with the organization for how they treated him.
“They always treated me good. They always treated me well, and I wish, truly, everybody in the organization the best. Great people, were perfect with me. I only want good things for them. Even if they did me wrong, I would wish them good things. Nothing but the best things to say about Dallas.”
Luka and Porzingis might not have a bad relationship but both will be keen to win a title at the expense of the other. Porzingis hasn’t played since the first round but the former All-Star is confirmed to be participating in Game 1.
Doncic has dominated the 2024 NBA Playoffs and is leading almost every major statistical category. He’s averaging 28.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 8.8 assists, being named the Western Conference Finals MVP.
