Even though the NBA season is still a couple of months away, fans, analysts, and even betting experts are already making their projections.

If you’re familiar with the sports betting industry, then you may know that you can bet on whether a team will win more or fewer games than the projection, which team will win each division, each conference, and even who’ll win the NBA Championship.

Another of the most popular future bets is the MVP award. And, according to a popular gambling site, Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic is the clear-cut favorite to win the award, followed by Stephen Curry, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Joel Embiid.

“Though, James is behind five other stars. Luka Doncic is the favorite at 9/2, followed by Steph Curry (7/1), Giannis Antetokounmpo (15/2) and Joel Embiid (17/2). LeBron shares the sixth place with Damian Lillard (both at 12/1).
Two other Lakers players are on the list, namely Russell Westbrook (25/1) and Anthony Davis (28/1),” reported TalkBasketball.net

This doesn’t come as a surprise at all. Despite his youth, Doncic has already proven to be a generational talent and he just keeps getting better as the years go by. Also, judging by what he showed in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, he’s in mid-season form already.

It’s also worth noting that the past three MVPs have also been European (Giannis Antetokounmpo 2x, Nikola Jokic), so Doncic would be the obvious choice if this trend continues.

Throughout his young career in the league, Doncic has posted impressive averages of 25.7 points, 8.4 rebounds, 7.7 assists, 1.0 steals, and 2.7 three-pointers per game on 45.7/33.1/73.5 shooting splits.

He’s become one of the faces of the league and he’ll only keep improving as the years go by, so it’s no wonder why oddsmakers believe that he’s ready to be named the best player in the league.
