Malik Beasley was an unhappy man after the Los Angeles Lakers fans posted some hurtful and upsetting comments on his Instagram post where he wished his four-year-old son on his birthday.

Beasley took to social media to wish his son, Makai Joseph Beasley, after the team’s blowout 118-108 loss to the Chicago Bulls on Sunday.

“It’s my son’s bday and I’m trying to enjoy that,” Beasley wrote in a comment that he pinned to his IG post. “Obviously I want to be making shots myself. I’m harder on myself than [sic] anybody.. laker nation it’s only a matter of time. I put in too much work not too [sic]. I promise when the time to turn up comes, it will come.

“Let’s focus on getting to playoffs,” Beasley added. “Positively is the only way to move forward from here. Love y’all and just show some respect to me and my family .. including @montanayao”

Beasley finished with 18 points making six threes, but a chunk of them came in garbage time, and his flounder on the defensive end saw him earn the wrath of the fans.

The veteran was one of the Lakers’ latest acquisitions prior to the trade deadline. He was roped in to bolster the team’s shooting and has been averaging 11.7 points and 3.5 rebounds this season and shooting 38.1% from the field and 34.9% from beyond the arc.

It’s unfair that Beasley had to go through such a torrid experience, especially from a fanbase that’s passionate about the franchise and is relentless with their criticism when a player struggles.

Perhaps, the fans can tone down their toxicity and look at the larger picture rather than pick on a struggling player.

Can The Los Angeles Lakers Make The Playoffs?

The Los Angeles Lakers have seven games left in their regular season, and each contest comes with a tremendous amount of pressure.

While they steered clear of a play-in route with their win against the Dallas Mavericks earlier, the defeat to the Bulls puts them in ninth place with a 37-38 record.

The Lakers will need to win a major chunk of their games to make the playoffs, and with LeBron James back in the fold, their chances of heading into the postseason are bright. That said, they will still need to notch up victories.

LA’s remaining games are against sides who are either playoff or title contenders making their climb a tough one. Only time will tell if they can get over the line.
