Marcus Smart Stopped Both Stephen Curry And Andrew Wiggins With One Screen: “Hey, It’s Not Illegal If It’s Not Called.”

4 Min Read

Marcus Smart is one of the best defensive players and hustle guys in the NBA. He is somebody that is often willing to do the dirty work both offensively and defensively, even if that means pushing the boundaries of the rules.

Recently, a video went viral of Marcus Smart stopping Andrew Wiggins and Stephen Curry with one screen while the Celtics were on offense. The move is obviously illegal, as Smart is clearly hooking Stephen Curry’s arm. With that being said, this is definitely a hilarious clip, and the announcer joked that the move is “not illegal” if it isn’t called.

Despite Marcus Smart having a good performance in Game 5, the Boston Celtics ended up losing to the Golden State Warriors. That loss was definitely not optimal for them, as Stephen Curry had a surprising off-night, and they were unable to capitalize on his cold shooting. While they will be on home court in TD Garden for Game 6, it seems as though the momentum has shifted to favor the Warriors.

With that being said, the Boston Celtics have overcome adversity all of this season, and they could potentially win Game 6 due to their experience in beating various challenges that their season presented. At one point, even Jayson Tatum’s father had doubts about his son’s team being able to make the playoffs.

“I didn’t think they were going to make the playoffs at the beginning of the season. Y’all are bad, y’all don’t share the ball, you don’t do a lot of this — and this was in November, December before they went on that run.”

“Who are we going to trade,” he asked rhetorically, transporting himself back in his mind to that frustrating moment for Celtics fans everywhere. “Who are we going to let go? We’ve got to figure out something.”

“Now, to see them beating the Brooklyn Nets, going through (the) Milwaukee (Bucks), the NBA Champions from last year, and then finishing off Jimmy Butler (of the Miami Heat), I did not expect it,” he continued. “That’s what professionals are. The old guys on that team showed what professionals are supposed to be like. That’s what your job is. You’ve got to find a way not to be an inconsistent team, to be a winning team.”

The Boston Celtics definitely have the talent to win the championship, even if they are 3-2 down to the Golden State Warriors currently. We will see if they are able to overcome adversity once again, and force a Game 7.

If they are to do so, Marcus Smart’s defense on Stephen Curry will be crucial. Hopefully, Marcus Smart continues to play well, and there’s no doubt that he and the rest of the team will be desperate to win in Game 6.
