Michael Jordan and LeBron James will always be compared, which is now set in stone. With a lot of modern NBA fans believing James to be the greatest of all time, and Michael Jordan generally holding that title, the debate has only gotten heated. But in 2017, his former teammates spoke about how Jordan would have handled the modern NBA, with Will Perdue naming the main difference between him and LeBron.

“You see LeBron say: ‘I’m playing hard, I averaged a triple-double, I’ll sleep well tonight,'” Perdue told Bleacher Report. “I don’t think you would ever hear those words come out of MJ’s mouth. Even if he had 60, [if] he lost and thought somebody had got the best of him, he would be pissed.

“There are people that want to win and people that have to win. Michael had to win.”

This is an incredible way to explain Michael Jordan‘s competitive spirit, which fueled his rise to the top of the NBA. While LeBron James is as much of a winner as anyone else, he indeed seems to be better at handling it than Michael Jordan was. MJ was obsessed with continuously going at it till he got the win, which is what made him so different.

This Key Difference Also Drives The Narrative About Players Fearing Michael Jordan And Not Fearing LeBron James

In recent times, there has been a lot of discussion about how LeBron James is not feared like Michael Jordan was. But that is quite disrespectful to LeBron, as a few players have pointed out. But Michael Jordan’s domination came from wanting to crush his opponent completely, which might explain why some people think his aura was different from the one LeBron James had.

There is no dispute that some players were beaten by Michael Jordan before he even got on the court, and that may have been thanks to his obsession with winning. Being Michael Jordan sounds far from easy, and his Chicago Bulls teammates had to deal with it more than anyone else. It’s no surprise then, that they believe he is ahead of LeBron James, they got to see his greatness up close and personal through several championship runs.
