The Denver Nuggets made the NBA Finals after sweeping the Los Angeles Lakers, and there’s no doubt that they are in a great position. Many players can only dream of getting that far in the playoffs.
In fact, Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. has recently claimed that he has talked to Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young, who is “jealous” of Porter Jr. because he made the Finals.
“Me & Trae Young have talked a lot. He’s jealous since I’m in the Finals and he’s only made the Eastern Conference Finals… Brandon Roy, my coach from HS… I think he’s jealous too.”

As mentioned by Michael Porter Jr., Trae Young has only managed to make the Eastern Conference Finals during the 2021 playoffs. He has not managed to get that far since then, and it is easy to see why he would be envious of a team that managed to get all the way to the Finals.
Trae Young Could Be A Target For The Los Angeles Lakers
In the player empowerment era, we have seen a lot of players get traded and form superteams to try and win championships. Perhaps that is a pathway through which Trae Young can make the Finals, and it was recently revealed that the Lakers could trade for him this summer.
“For what it’s worth, Kyrie Irving and Trae Young, two All-Star-level point guards, were both sitting courtside in Los Angeles for the second time this postseason. Young, like James and Davis, is a Klutch client,” reported Jovan Buha for The Athletic.
“The Lakers have had internal discussions about what a hypothetical trade offer for Young could look like this summer, according to multiple league sources not authorized to speak publicly.
There is no doubt that Trae Young would be a solid option for the Los Angeles Lakers. He could help LeBron James and Anthony Davis carry the load on offense and take over as the floor general of the team, allowing LeBron James to play more off the ball. Young is also known as a durable player as well, which means he can withstand the regular season.
Of course, the Lakers have other options, and they have recently been linked to Kyrie Irving as well. There is no doubt that either player would be a great addition for them, and we’ll have to wait to see if they land either one.
