Mike Breen is one of the best in the business when it comes to commentary. He has been the lead play-by-play announcer for the NBA Finals on ABC since 2006, and everyone was excited to have him back on the sidelines for these Finals after his bout with COVID-19.

While Breen has commentated on many special moments during his career, one word that always comes to mind when someone talks about him is ‘Bang’. His iconic calls are synonymous with some of the biggest moments in NBA history, and Breen was recently asked about his favorite ‘Bang’ during an interview.

“Obviously the Ray Allen shot in Game 6 of the Finals… that’s gotta be up there without question.” Breen also added, “He doesn’t hit that shot and they don’t win the championship.”

“As fun time as I’ve ever had as a broadcaster were those three weeks of Linsanity… it was one of the most magical times I’ve ever had as a broadcaster, as a Knick fan and as an NBA fan, because he became the most popular athlete, not just in the country, in the world for three weeks.”

“Then we go up to Toronto and they’re playing the Raptors and he received the loudest ovation in a starting lineup for a road player in the history of the NBA. And so of course it comes down to a final shot… so he hits the game-winning 3 because of course he does.”

That Ray Allen shot has gone down in history as arguably the greatest clutch shot in the playoffs, and Breen’s ‘Bang’ just makes it all the more exciting to watch over and over again. Linsanity was a great story as well, as Jeremy Lin took over the NBA and his game-winner against the Toronto Raptors was one of the more memorable moments from that epic run.

We hope Breen gets an opportunity to deliver a few more iconic ‘Bangs’ the rest of the way in these Finals, as the Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors prepare to face off in Game 5.
