  • James will enter Year 21 of his NBA career

LeBron James will go down as one of the greatest basketball players to ever play in the NBA. While some can debate about his status as the GOAT of the league, they cannot raise a finger about his off-court work.

Despite that, LeBron James always manages to find a spot on the list of most hated players in the NBA. ESPN’s Mike Greenberg called out people who hate LeBron James during a 2017 episode of the “BUILD Series” show.

“There is like a cottage industry in dumping on LeBron, and for the life of me I don’t understand it,” Greenberg said. “He has been a pillar of the society. The only criticism you could possibly have of him was a slightly inartful public relations departure from Cleveland the first time around which he has more than made amends for.”

Greenberg added: “Some insane number of kids in Akron are going to college because of LeBron James. He’s done more in the community than practically any other person in our society in any walk of life. He has never gotten in a whiff of trouble, has handled himself through ridiculous criticism extraordinarily well, and he has managed to outdo the unrealistic expectations that existed on him as a high school player.”

“If someone wants to find a criticism with that guy, in my opinion, they really need to analyze themselves first,” he concluded.

As Mike Greenberg pointed out, LeBron James has done everything in his power to help his community. The biggest contribution was starting the I Promise school in 2018.

LeBron James’ I Promise school aims to improve the lives of underprivileged children in Akron, Ohio, by providing them with high-quality education. Apart from that, the I Promise Housing puts a roof over the heads of parents of the students who study at the I Promise School.

James is truly a great example of what a role model should be like. As we mentioned earlier, LeBron can be criticized for many things, but being an amazing person off the court is not one of them.

LeBron James Will Return To Play Year 21 In The NBA

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated by the Denver Nuggets in four games during the 2023 Western Conference Finals. James hinted at retiring from the league following the defeat.

However, James announced earlier that he’s not retiring from the NBA just yet. He will be playing Year 21 in the league while donning the Los Angeles Lakers jersey.

The 38-year-old finished the 2022-23 NBA season averaging 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists over 55 games.
