- According to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, the Milwaukee Bucks have signed Alex Antetokounmpo
- The 22-year-old is the younger brother of franchise superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, and role player Thansis Antetokounmpo
- Reports suggest that Alex Antetokounmpo’s 1-year deal with the franchise is not a guaranteed contract
The Milwaukee Bucks are under pressure to put consistently contending teams around Giannis Antetokounmpo after his recent comments about re-signing.
And while they have brought back his co-stars who helped him win an NBA championship in 2021, it seems the Bucks are also trying to secure his goodwill through other ways.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported: “The Milwaukee Bucks signed Alex Antetokounmpo, league sources confirmed to HoopsHype.
“He joins brothers Thanasis and Giannis Antetokounmpo on the roster heading into training camp. He played for the G League’s Wisconsin Herd last season.”

The Milwaukee Bucks already have Thanasis Antetokounmpo on the roster, and he has developed into quite a locker room and bench presence for the team. They will now have three Antetokounmpo brothers on the team following this signing.
Alex Antetokounmpo is 22 years old and the youngest of all the brothers. He spent last season playing for the Wisconsin Herd, the G-League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Standing at 6’8″, he doesn’t quite have the imposing frame of his brother, but he plays small forward and has seemingly made it to the league despite going undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft.
The Milwaukee Bucks Might Be Trying To Keep Giannis Antetokounmpo Happy
If the Milwaukee Bucks want to have any shot at keeping Giannis Antetokounmpo happy and around in the long term, then they have to keep a contending roster around him.
Giannis Antetokounmpo made it clear when he spoke about a potential extension recently, saying:
“But next year, next summer it would make more sense for both parties. Even then, I don’t know…
“I would not be the best version of myself if I didn’t know that everybody’s on the same page, everybody’s going for a championship, and everybody’s going to sacrifice time away from their family like I do.
“And if I don’t feel that, I’m not signing… Winning a championship comes first. I don’t want to be 20 years on the same team and don’t win another championship.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo averaged 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game for the Bucks last season. He is a Finals MVP and a two-time Finals MVP.
The Milwaukee Bucks will desperately want him to be happy on the team and stay for a long time, so getting his family involved could surely be seen as a move to help with that.
Alex Antetokounmpo Has Gone Viral In The Past
Kostas Antetokounmpo and Thanasis Antetokounmpo have both had stretches in the NBA but failed to show that they can be regular rotational players in the league. Alex, who is only 22, now has an opportunity to show that he can do it.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has described playing with his brothers as a dream come true in the past. But Alex getting a chance is not just about the Greek Freak, he has impressed by his own game at times in the past.

Alex Antetokounmpo went viral in 2021 as a hot prospect and another potentially excellent NBA player. While he hasn’t managed to do too much in his career yet, this year could be the one for him to take the next step.
In the 2022-23 G League season, he averaged 5.8 points and 3.1 rebounds per game in 32 games with the Wisconsin Herd. Those aren’t mind-boggling numbers.
Questions about why the Milwaukee Bucks have signed him will continue with time, but it will now be up to Alex Antetokounmpo to make the most of the opportunity that he has been given.
