Coming into the 2021 Olympics, expectations were high for Team USA, just like they are every year.

For basketball specifically, fans expect the U.S. to win, just like they have for the past 18 years. With 15 gold medals, one silver, and two bronze medals, it’s fair to say that the USA completely dominates the sport.

So when the team started losing games during the exhibition matches, it was a huge red flag — and the criticisms were pretty harsh early on.

But now that it’s over, and Team USA has come out on top, the celebrations from Americans have commenced.

Here are some of the best reactions we saw on the big night:

While Team USA got contributions from everyone, Kevin Durant was the easy MVP. Not only did he become one of two players in history to earn three Olympic Golds, but he was also able to surpass Carmelo Anthony as the men’s All-Time leading scorer.

It was a great performance overall by Durant and everyone else who made the Gold finish possible.

Now that it’s in the past, the focus will shift back to the offseason, where a number of high-profile acquisitions have already taken place.

We’ll see if they’re able to do it again next time.
