Some eyebrows were raised on Friday night during the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Milwaukee Bucks. It wasn’t because of the action on the court, though, but off it. Jeanie Buss and Linda Rambis were all over LeBron James when the trio sat together courtside, and a fan has now revealed what they were talking about.

LeBron James: “Happy International Women’s Day”

Jeanie Buss and Linda Rambis: “Thank you”

LeBron James: “Y’all are two of the most powerful women in sports… Y’all deserve it.”

March 8 was International Women’s Day and it was good on LeBron’s part to wish the two of them. They certainly are two of the most powerful women in sports. Buss has been the Lakers governor since 2013 and in 2020, became the first female controlling owner to guide her team to a championship.

Rambis, meanwhile, has been a confidante of Buss’ for the longest time and currently holds the title of “Executive Director of Special Projects” in the Lakers organization. She was hired to work in the Lakers’ marketing department by the late Dr. Jerry Buss, all the way back in the 1970s.

Her husband and former NBA player Kurt Rambis is a senior basketball adviser for the Lakers and the two seem to wield a fair bit of influence behind the scenes. James’ relationship with Buss and the two Rambis’ has reportedly not always been a great one, but the 39-year-old showed the two ladies some love here.

NBA Fans Reacted To The Clip

When the initial clip went viral, NBA fans joked about James being in a lot of trouble when he gets home. They now reacted to this fan revealing what the conversation was actually about.

One applauded James for showing love and respect to women.

A fan hilariously said the allegations against LeBron can be dismissed.

One joked that James would show this clip to his wife, Savannah.

A fan wildly stated that LeBron was also bribing the two to fire Darvin Ham.

One said this is why James is the GOAT.

James, Buss, and Rambis would have left the arena in high spirits as well. Despite LeBron missing the game against the Bucks due to an ankle injury, the Lakers came away with a 123-122 win to improve to 35-30 on the season.

Jeanie Buss Said The Lakers Will Retire LeBron James’ Jersey

There has been a lot of talk recently on whether LeBron deserves to have a statue built by the Lakers. While it remains to be seen if that happens, Buss did confirm that James will have his jersey retired by the Lakers.

“The standard for having your jersey retired as a Laker is when a player is inducted into the Hall of Fame. I have absolutely no doubt that LeBron will make it into the Basketball Hall of Fame,” Buss told Sportskeeda. “When he does so, then we will retire his jersey. Knowing that he will make it into the Basketball Hall of Fame, he will have his Lakers jersey retired, no doubt about it.”

Buss was also asked if LeBron would get both No. 6 and No. 23 retired but said that would be a discussion for another time. This 2023-24 season is LeBron’s sixth with the Lakers and he has averaged 27.0 points, 7.9 rebounds, 8.0 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game for the franchise. He led them to the 2020 NBA championship and certainly deserves to have his jersey retired.
