Damian Lillard has yet to win anything significant in his NBA career with the Portland Trail Blazers. Yet, despite the lack of deep playoff runs, he remains loyal to his franchise.

Blazers fans and many around the NBA might appreciate Damian Lillard‘s loyalty, but some love to troll him for it. Recently, after Lillard hit back at the haters saying they should hope he doesn’t win an NBA championship with the Blazers, a fan had a roast ready for him.

The fan seems confident that Damian Lillard will never win it all with the Portland Trail Blazers, and it’s hard to say that they’re entirely wrong either. The comment was triggered by something Lillard said on the Point Forward podcast, where he suggested that he will be acting very different if he can with a championship in Portland

“They better pray I don’t win a championship for the Blazers. They better pray because the same way you like ‘they don’t know that side’… they better pray I don’t win a championship for the Blazers,” he said on the Point Forward podcast.

Lillard also went on to speak in another instance about how he does not need to win a championship to validate his career. Ring culture has become a huge part of NBA discourse in recent times, and it’s safe to say that Dame doesn’t agree with defining careers by the number of rings.

Will The Portland Trail Blazers Win A Championship With Damian Lillard?

There can never be a straightforward answer to whether a team will win a championship. Injuries, form, and luck all factor into any team winning it all. And while the Trail Blazers always have a chance with Damian Lillard on the roster, they have not been able to build a championship team around him.

Maybe tanking and drafting high could help them, but Lillard would never allow that. Their quick rebuild of putting the likes of Jerami Grant and Anfernee Simons around him hasn’t raised their ceiling either. They are reportedly open to trading a majority of their players but don’t seem to be drawing significant interest on that front.

As they are constructed, I would argue that the Trail Blazers will never win a championship. They need to find a new All-Star to play alongside Dame, and if the new hierarchy can get that done, it looks to be about the only way to ensure he wins a championship with the franchise.
