Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers are ready to make a splash this season and finally get past the second round of the playoff.
They’re looking better this season, but the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks will present a big challenge for them. However, Joel Embiid isn’t worried about these rivals.
“We’re not worried about Boston or Milwaukee,” Embiid told Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer. “We are worried about ourselves. We can get better every single night. We can take this experience that we had [Thursday] and try to be better.”
The Sixers didn’t have the best start to this season, but they’re now one of the top-3 teams in the Eastern Conference, right behind the aforementioned Celtics and Bucks, respectively.
They’re set to face the C’s tonight, and Embiid is confident that his team can get a big win against the best team in the NBA. After the Nets dismantled their Big 3 ahead of the trade deadline, perhaps the Cleveland Cavaliers are the only team that can compete against the top 3 seeds in the East.
Philadelphia 76ers At Risk Of Losing Both Joel Embiid And James Harden This Summer
This season might be more important than Sixers fans think, as the team could see not only James Harden return to Houston but also their great talent Embiid leaving the franchise if they suffer another early playoff exit.
This would be a huge disaster for the Sixers, who couldn’t win with Jimmy Butler, then with Ben Simmons and last season couldn’t do much with James Harden on the court.
Recent history suggests that the Sixers would crumble in the postseason, and they know it’s now or never for them. Their star duo has a lot to prove, as well as their head coach, so the pressure is really heavy on this team.
Time will tell how this season unfolds for Philly, but right now, they aren’t anybody’s favorite except for their fans.
