The 2023 NBA Draft is part of the past now, with sixty players being drafted into the NBA, and others set to earn a spot in the league during the summer league or playing in the G League.

The aftermath of the draft gave fans a lot to think about regarding one of the best insiders in the league. Shams Charania has been under fire for a report regarding the Charlotte Hornets and their No. 2 overall pick in this year’s draft. Ahead of the big night, the senior insider reported that Scoot Henderson was ‘gaining momentum’ as the Hornets’ potential selection.

“Sources: Scoot Henderson is gaining serious momentum at No. 2 with the Charlotte Hornets in tonight’s NBA draft. Hornets have been torn over the last week between Henderson and Brandon Miller. Team has final meetings today to settle on decision.”

During the big night, the Hornets went with Brandon Miller at No. 2, which was the consensus idea around the league. This report and the fact that Charania has worked for FanDuel since December 2022, made fans think he was doing something wrong with this report.

Many took to social media to slam him over this report, implying he shared it to make his new company get a lot of money.

One fan pointed out the conflict of interest this relationship creates.

Somebody joked by telling Michael Jordan leaked the fake news to get a better line for Miller.

One fan brought up a video of Mitch Kupchak admitting the Hornets made their final decision on Wednesday.

Another one showed their happiness to see that people are paying more attention to Shams’ reports and his relationship with FanDuel.

These are all serious accusations, but knowing how the Hornets worked to get this deal done, and the reports suggesting that Michael Jordan was left impressed by Brandon Miller, it was odd to see Scoot Henderson back in the race for that No. 2 overall pick.

Adrian Wojnarowski Dismantled Shams Charania’s Report After Hornets Selected Brandon Miller

To make things worse, Adrian Wojnarowski, Charania’s mentor-turned-rival reported that Miller was the clear favorite for the Hornets, as people at every level within the organization were confident that he can be a perennial All-Star player.

“All along, the entire Charlotte Hornets organization has been all-in on Brandon Miller — ownership, front office, scouts, coaches. They see him as a perennial future All-Star player.”

This appeared to be a normal pre-draft situation, but it could be more than that. FanDuel reacted to the accusations, making it clear they have nothing to do with Charania’s reports. Still, fans are very quick to jump to conclusions, and this wasn’t an exception at all.
