Ja Morant is a young and exciting NBA player who can do plenty of great things in the league if he stays out of trouble. With everything said about him, Morant is expected to become one of the future faces in the league, but some are already hyping up a little too much.

Basketball Forever recently shared a curious fact about SLAM’s all-time greatest point guard list, where Ja Morant ranks 15 spots above two-time NBA champion Rajon Rondo.

Considering all the hype around Morant, one would think this is fair, but when you remember how special Rajon Rondo was, the type of impact he had in the NBA during his prime and his resume, this is questionable, to say the least.

Many fans flooded the Instagram posts with negative comments, asking for Rondo to get some respect on his name.

“Damn, the disrespect is absolutely palpable ‍♂️.”

“They put Ja at 30 cos he stay with the .30 .”

“Why is JA even on this list to begin with let alone him being 30.”

“They got Bron and AI as PG’s ‍♂️ Throw the List Away.”

“This is ridiculous. Rondo is a 4x All Def 4x assist leader and has 2 rings while Ja has done nothing of note.”

“Not sure about that one.”

“Too much IG Hype, Ja ain’t won anything yet.”

Rajon Rondo is one of the most iconic point guards of the late 2000s and early 2010s. The Boston Celtics legend was the perfect complement for Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and even nemesis Ray Allen.

With his flashy passes, court vision, basketball IQ, Rondo became one of the best players in his position during that time. Moreover, he won his first championship with the Celtics in 2008.

After leaving the C’s, the ‘Playoff Rondo’ legend was born, and wherever he went, teams were able to compete for a lot of things. He won his second championship in 2020 with the Los Angeles Lakers, doing something not a lot of people have been able to do: winning with both the Celtics and Lakers.

During his 16-season career, Rondo has averaged 9.8 points, 7.9 assists and 4.5 rebounds in 957 regular-season games. He’s played for nine teams, including the Celtics, Lakers, Bulls, Clippers, Cavaliers and Kings.

Ja Morant Is Yet To Write His NBA Story

As for Ja, his career was just taking off when he started getting himself in trouble. The Memphis Grizzlies superstar is an electrifying player who can take over games whenever he needs to. He’s become the leader of his team, yet Morant isn’t the most reliable player when it comes to leadership.

He’s been involved in off-court controversies, including his two gun incidents. He was recently suspended for 25 games to start the 2023-24 NBA season. Before that, he was suspended for eight games.

Morant vowed to be better after that, yet he did the same thing a couple of months later. On top of that, he’s only won the MIP award and hasn’t been close to the MVP.

Ja Morant is still considered one of the future faces of the league, but if he can’t change his ways, he’ll be out of the league soon. Rondo wasn’t a first option a single time in his career, but he knew what he needed to do to help his team win.
