LeBron James is one of the best players in the world, and there’s no doubt that he has been elite despite him being at the back end of his career. Currently, LeBron James is averaging 30.2 PPG, 8.5 RPG, and 7.0 APG for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers will face off against the New York Knicks today, and he is only 117 points away from breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record as of right now. Under a recent post from Legion Hoops, fans discussed whether he’d be able to break the scoring record against the Knicks by scoring 117 points.

LeBron James will play tonight against the Knicks in Madison Square Garden.

He only needs 117 points to pass Kareem for 1st all-time.

Will he get it tonight? pic.twitter.com/3yNFdJJkRA

Will he get 117 points tonight? I’ll bet ya $100 he doesn’t

Probably 50

If he scores 117 points tonight I won’t even mention Michael Jordan anymore

He getting at least 60 tonight

No, no he will not score 117 points tonight.

He will pass Kareem but will the Lakers win those games he needs to surpass Kareem?

Dude no one is scoring over 100 points you know how long that will take? He’ll do it against either the bucks or OKC

42 points then say he’s sore so he can sit the next games that aren’t televised so he can break the record on ESPN or ABC

It would be the highest single scoring game in NBA history, and they are averaging as a team 116.8 points per game. So I am going to go, No.

Let him shoot for at least 101. Pass Wilt then pass Kareem the next game.

50 points or 40 points

if he did he would break TWO NBA records…Kareems and Wilts at the same time. Then he would truly be the greatest of all time!

I’d LOVE to have seen a prime Heat or prime second Cavs stint LBJ score over 100 pts in MSG

Easy casual 120 point game in the first half

Are you asking if he’s going to score 117 points against the Knicks? Huh?

It is clear that most fans agree that it is highly unlikely that LeBron James will manage to score 117 points and break two records at once. However, it is quite possible that he will manage to lead the team to a victory against the Knicks with a fantastic performance.

The Los Angeles Lakers Could Still Make A Trade

There is a chance that the Los Angeles Lakers will decide to make a win-now move ahead of the trade deadline. In fact, GM Rob Pelinka has previously claimed that the team is not done making moves ahead of the trade deadline, and it’ll be interesting to see what other plans the front office has for the future.

With me, that’s talking to all 29 teams and their GMs and keeping the cadences… (Trading for Rui) was an opportunity for us to strike early… This doesn’t mean our work is finished, we’re going to continue monitoring the situation with the 29 other teams.”

The team’s acquisition of Rui Hachimura was definitely a good move that helps them on both ends of the floor, and the team has already signaled their intention to re-sign him in the future. Another impactful move could really change things for the Lakers and allow them to make the playoffs and go on a deep run this year.

The trade deadline will be around soon, and it could determine how well the LeBron James era ends with the Los Angeles Lakers. Their superstar duo is still capable of winning a championship, and we’ll see if they get enough help from the front office to do so.
