Kendrick Perkins is back at it with his incredible hot takes. The former Boston Celtics player has earned a reputation for his curious comments, which often differ from what most fans believe.

Last season, he called Giannis Antetokounmpo the Robin to Khris Middleton’s Batman, only to change his stance and claim different a couple of weeks later. Fans are always ready to see what odd thing he’ll say to attack him and recently, he found himself under fire for picking the Miami Heat as the team to beat in the 2021/22 NBA season.

On Thursday’s edition of First Take, the 2008 NBA champion stated he was looking at South Beach to find the team to beat in the league this campaign.

“When I look at the team to beat [in the NBA], I’m looking down there in South Beach at the Miami Heat.”

Besides Stephen A. Smith looking at him with a shocked face, Perkins also received a lot of bad comments from fans. Some mentioned the Golden State Warriors and how great they look now and in the future, while others trashed the Heat for losing to the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers in back-to-back games.

The Heat started this season showing great things, but they’ve entered a bad streak that has decreased their stock. Still, they have a better team than last season and it’s fair to say they can actually compete against the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets for a spot in the NBA Finals.

Then again, other teams seem to be better than the Heat, including the Golden State Warriors. They boast the league-best record with 10-1, although they’ve had an easy schedule. But, as several fans pointed out, the Dubs know what it takes to win and this Heat group is still trying to take that final step to win the Larry O’Brien trophy.

It’s still too early to say what team will win it all, but Perk already made his pick. Just like Stephen A. ‘officially’ selecting the Warriors to win the 2022 championship, the big man is siding with Erik Spoelstra’s team.
