For the last few years, we have had fans as well as many within NBA circles point to how the Dunk Contest has lost its spark. The big stars have stopped taking part in them and it just isn’t all that exciting anymore, with the 3-point contest taking center stage.

When the names were announced for this year’s dunk contest, it hardly led to a great deal of interest. There were again no stars, which was pointed to as the biggest problem by Kevin Durant, as we got KJ Martin, Jericho Sims, Trey Murphy III, and lastly Mac McClung, who wasn’t even on an NBA roster at the time.

Many were expecting another dud like the ones we have seen in recent years, but McClung certainly had other ideas, as he delivered one of the greatest dunks in the history of the contest.

NBA Fans React To Mac McClung’s Insane Dunk

McClung, who became the first G League player to ever be called up for the contest, may have just turned himself into a household name with a dunk for the ages. He leaped over two people, then touched the backboard before the slam.

NBA fans were left stunned and they were full of praise for McClung.
