The Brooklyn Nets and the Golden State Warriors have recently finished their first regular-season game against one another, with the Warriors blowing the Nets out 117-99. There is no question that this wasn’t the expectation by many, who expected a closer game.
A lot of NBA fans reacted to the loss, with many clowning the Brooklyn Nets. However, a lot of attention was paid to Stephen Curry’s 37 point performance. Stephen Curry had a record-breaking season where he was the scoring champion last year, and he’s still been playing at an extremely high level.

The Warriors have looked like the best team in basketball thus far, and that has been without Klay Thompson and James Wiseman in the lineup. A lot of people have picked them as a potential championship team, and thus far they have looked the part. They will certainly be even more dangerous when fully healthy. Perhaps this win will quiet their doubters. Stephen Curry has played like the best player in the world, and it’s clear that he’s ready to bring the Warriors back to the post-season.
While the Brooklyn Nets were missing some important rotation players such as Joe Harris for this contest, they definitely had the firepower to make this a closer game with James Harden and Kevin Durant. The Brooklyn Nets are a good team without Kyrie Irving, but it’s clear they’re not the world-beaters everyone expected them to be last year without Irving.
This has been touted by many as a potential Finals matchup, and perhaps we will end up seeing that become a reality. If it is though, the Brooklyn Nets will have to perform better. While Kevin Durant shooting this poorly won’t happen every night, it’s clear that their defense needs some work. Seeing Stephen Curry against Kevin Durant is always a treat though, and hopefully, their next matchup will be a closer game.
